Looking for an organization that will take your durable medical equipment…think crutches, walkers, and the like?
Found one! Introducing Caring Hearts Lending Closet in Springfield, PA.
In need of short or long term medical equipment?
Have medical equipment that you want to donate, get out of your home?
This is the place…
Working as a physical therapist, Karin Kennedy treated many patients with acute injuries and illnesses. Frequently, in her job, her patients needed the use of crutches, walkers and even wheelchairs to get around. Most, only needed these items for a short period of time and then never needed them again. On the flipside, Karin also saw people who needed durable medical equipment but couldn’t get it due to cost or insurance issues.
Karin saw an opportunity to help those in need, right in front of her, in her community. But she needed things to fall into place – the right space, volunteers, non-profit status – then she had to get the word out. She spoke to her local church and, soon, her vision came to life.
So what can you donate to or borrow from Caring Hearts Lending Closet?
Inventory varies but generally, the following durable medical equipment is either available or in demand:
- Walking boots
- Shower Chairs
- Adult diapers (new in package)
- Tubing for feeding tubes (new in package)
- And more as space allows
Caring Hearts Lending Closet’s inventory depends entirely on individual donation. All equipment is used, unless noted by the Closet. All equipment is cleaned and confirmed in good working order before it’s dispensed to each new recipient.
Anyone, with a need, can inquire about CHLC’s medical equipment regardless of financial status. Individuals can take equipment, to keep for good or return when done, without any contracts. However, CHLC hours are by appointment only.
Caring Hearts Lending Closet is run by Karin and her staff of volunteers. It is NOT affiliated with the church. Karin coordinates all donations and inquiries for medical equipment.
